Tata introduces all new electric vehicle brand Avinya, This will be the flagship line-up of the Indian Brand
Tata Motors is taking a unique route in the luxury electric vehicle segment by introducing a Sportback as the first model under its Avinya brand, rather than starting with an SUV. At Auto Expo 2025, Martin Uhlarik, Tata’s Global Design Head, confirmed that the Avinya concept showcased two years ago was more than just a vision it will be the first production model.
This five-door, low-profile, and dynamic Sportback has completed its design phase and is expected to hit the market next year. Uhlarik described it as a “real brand builder,” indicating that Tata aims to make a bold statement with its entry into the luxury EV space.
Despite the Sportback’s unconventional body style, Tata Motors is planning a sizable production run of 24,000 units per year, signaling strong confidence in its market appeal. After launching this model, the company will introduce an SUV based on the Avinya X concept, which debuted at Auto Expo 2025. This SUV, described by Uhlarik as a “brand pillar,” is expected to attract a broader audience due to its traditional design. Sources suggest that it will be one of the higher-end models in the Avinya lineup, with a three-row version positioned at the top.
All Avinya models, including the Sportback and SUV, will be built on Jaguar Land Rover’s EMA platform. Tata Motors is also developing additional models, including a 4.4-meter compact SUV and a larger 4.9-meter luxury UV, comparable in size to the Volvo EM90 MPV. With this diverse lineup, Tata aims to establish Avinya as a premium EV brand that combines futuristic design with cutting-edge electric mobility technology.
